Come and join us for a ride. For reasons beyond our control you must be a member to ride with the club more than once! The good news is that it's inexpensive and it's easy! Just download an application and bring it with payment to the ride leader.

Monday Rides
Start April 5 at 5:30
• From Myles Elementary
• This is a slower paced ride on a flat route
• It is a good ride for beginner riders who can maintain 13-15 mph for up to 30 miles
• Turn back points for anyone wanting a shorter ride

Tuesday Time Trials
Start May 5th
• At the Griffiss Business Park, Perimeter Road
• Time trial begins at 7:00; people show up around 6:00 for warm-up
• Participants have a choice of a 5 mile or 10 mile time trial
• Please sign up to be a timer on the calendar at the MVBC Group Listserv

Tuesday/Thursday Recreational/Beginners Rides
• For those who are beginning and/or are not speed or racing oriented
• Enjoy group riding in a sociable, fun, and friendly atmosphere
• These are slower paced rides for approximately 20 miles
• Riders will have the opportunity to receive help with basic riding technique (gearing, cadence, etc.) to improve their skills
• More experienced cyclists (ex. Dick Jordan, Frank Williams, Kathleen Purtell) will assist and guide beginners during these rides

Tuesday Rides
Start Time is 5:30 from April 6 through fall.
The ride will be starting at the Westmoreland Town Park on Stop Seven Road.

Thursday Rides
Start Time is 5:30 from June 3 through fall.
The ride will be starting at the Dunkin Donuts in Marcy.

Wednesday Night Rides
Start April 7.
April
—Start Time 5:30: Myles Elementary on Rt. 12B between Rt. 5 and Middle Settlement Rd.
The first routes are through flat areas in Westmoreland. Later rides may go up some hills on Rt. 12 and around Oriskany Falls.
May—Start Time 5:45: New Hartford High School on Daly Place.
• A and B rides cover hillier terrain.
June—Start Time 5:45: Whitesboro High School on Rt. 291 in Marcy.
• Very little flat! C rides avoid the bigger hills.
July—Start Time 5:45: New Hartford High School
August—Start Time 5:30: Whitesboro High School
September—Start Time 5:30: New Hartford High School
The Wednesday ride is a larger group that is broken up into A, B, and C groups. Approximate paces are:
C — 15 mph
B — 16 to 17 mph
A — 18 mph and up
Rides will last as long as daylight allows. The C group generally does 25-30 miles; A and B groups go 30 to 40 miles. The A and B groups take the same route, so if a rider can’t keep the pace, he can drop back to a slower group.

Stanwix Men's Club Wednesday Ride
Dates: May 12, 26; June 9, 23; July 7, 21; August 4, 18

• These will be “C” with no drop riders
• The terrain to the west and south of Rome is relatively flat and approximately 25 miles.

Saturday Ride:

Clinton Hannaford
Start Times: 3/27–9:30; May–9:00; June thru August –8:30.
A fast paced ride for a little challenge. Expect 16-19 mph average, with some hills. Cue sheets provided, with cut off options if you are dropped.
Length and amount of climbing will increase each week, until we do 35 miles. Season starts flatter/shorter and will build up to 35 miles bt June. If you want to get faster, you need to ride fast.

Saturday – Slow & Easy Breakfast Ride:
Starting in June
• Geared to new riders and those wanting a relatively easy ride
• About 20 miles or so.
• Relatively flat in the Westmoreland area

Fall Cyclocross Training
Cyclocross at the Thompsons or the Kirkland Town Park on Tuesday evenings approx. 5- 7:30 pm. Start riding when you get there. What better way is there to end the riding season? Contact Margaret Thompson for more information.

Winter Training and Roller Races
Nothing like getting the legs (and heart) pumping as fast as they can. Tuesday nights December through March at the Thompson homestead. Contact Margaret Thompson for more information.


Annual Events

Club Ride and Picnic
Short & long ride options followed by good food, good drink, and good fun with new and old friends.

The Canal Classic
The 30 mile Road Race every August in Little Falls. This race comes complete with 2 major climbs to test your lungpower.

Kirkland Cyclocross Race Weekend
The NYCross Cyclocross clinic will be held on Saturday this year to go along with Sunday's KCX race. Beginners can learn techniques and the ins and outs of 'cross.
